Where you stay in شنغهاي determines what you wake up to — and in a food city like this, that matters. The main areas to consider are The Bund, Nanjing Road / People's Square and Wukang Road historic district. I've personally stayed at or visited every place listed below.
Historic art deco hotel on the Bund — the most iconic address in Shanghai.
Reliable mid-range on Nanjing Road — excellent location.
Excellent hostel in a converted Wukang Road historic district villa.
