Chengdu Food Tour

From fiery hotpot to street-side dumplings. Let me guide you through China's culinary capital like a local.

ChengduHalf day / Full day

Chengdu is a UNESCO City of Gastronomy. On this tour, I'll take you to the places I've been eating at for years.

Half-Day Tour (4 hours)

  • Start at a traditional tea house for morning tea and snacks
  • Hit the street food alleys near Wenshu Monastery — dan dan noodles, jiaozi, and cold noodles
  • Visit a local market to see (and taste) ingredients you've never heard of
  • End at a hole-in-the-wall dumpling shop that's been open for 30+ years
  • Full-Day Tour (8 hours)

Everything in the half-day tour, plus:

  • A Sichuan cooking class with a local family
  • Visit a tea market and taste five varieties
  • Dinner at a proper hotpot restaurant (I'll teach you the dipping sauce formula)
  • What Sets This Apart

This is not a tourist food tour. I take you to places where locals eat — places that don't appear on any English-language blog. We'll use WeChat to pay, we'll point at menus, and we'll eat things you can't identify. That's the point.

    Dietary Requirements

Let me know in advance and I'll adjust. Vegetarians are well-catered for in Chengdu (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine is excellent here). For serious allergies, I'll work with you beforehand to plan safe options.
